The invention applies to the determination of the physical properties of heat engineering liquids and gases. The essence of this is as follows: ultrasonic oscillation is induced inside the medium being examined; pressure and temperature changes are marked along with the wavelength and/or oscillation frequency.The isothermal compression coefficient is defined by the expression<IMAGE>where: βT - isothermal compression coefficient, lambda - wavelength, p - pressure, T - temperature.This method additionally allows the determination of the thermal expansion coefficient by the following formula<IMAGE>Fig.1 shows the equipment necessary for implementation of this method.<IMAGE>
