FIELD: electrolytic processes. SUBSTANCE: carbon dioxide is produced when electrolysing calcium nitrate solution using sulphonic acid-based cationite membrane. Anode cell contains, except calcium nitrate solution, calcium carbonate, and cathode cell contains saccharose. In the electrolysis process, calcium ions from calcium nitrate solution pass through cationite membrane and calcium saccharate is formed in cathode cell. Nitric acid formed in anode cell decomposes calcium carbonate into calcium nitrate and carbon dioxide. On cathode, hydrogen is released, and oxygen on anode. EFFECT: improved procedure. |
