The seal consists of two cover plates (1) and an element (2) between them. The element has a spring travel limiter (9) for the beads (4) around the apertures (3) in the plates. It also has one or more plastically deformable sealing layers (10) in at least the area of the limiters. The limiters are formed by steel plates (8), flanged around the apertures. The sealing layers extend across the complete surface of a carrier plate (6), located on the cover plate, and are positioned between the plates. Alternatively, the limiters may be formed by rings, which are thicker than the carrier plate. -
