The piston rod side chambers (15) of the actuators have seals (3) which make them gastight. The chambers are connected via a line (16), with choke (17), to a supply line (13). The choke, which may be adjustable, is an integral part of the pressure cylinder and can be closed. The supply line can be connected to atmosphere, via a branch line (14) and valve (18). The piston in the actuator can be returned to its start position by a pressure line with valve (22) and choke (21).
