A dispenser comprises an open-top cup (10') containing a constituent part (50) of a substance and provided with a flat upper edge (52). The cup (10') is closed by a two-part lid (40) within which another constituent part (42) of the substance in the form of a wafer (42) is received. The top layer (44) of the lid (40) is removed to access the wafer (42) and the lower part (45) of the lid (40) is later removed to access the substance (50) within the cup (10'). The layers (44), (45) of the lid (40) comprise films of paper-foil or paper-plastic material such that a lift-tab on the upper layer (44) is first grasped to peel back the upper layer (44) and reveal the wafer (42), after which a tab portion (48) of the cup (10') is separated and pulled upwardly, carrying with it the attached lower layer (45). The upper and lower layers (44), (45) are heat-sealed to one another and to the edge (52) of the cup (10').
