A pharmaceutical composition comprises 3,6- diaminothioxanthene-10,10-dioxide of the formula: or an acid addition salt thereof and a carrier or diluent. The compositions may be in forms suitable for oral or parenteral use or in the form of suppositories; or a food premix for treating domestic birds and animals. The compositions may also contain other anticonvulsant agents such as mephentoin, ethotoin, primidone, phensuximide, paramethadione, diphenylhydantoin or trimethadione, barbiturates such as phenobarbital, mephobarbital and metharbital, muscle relaxants such as meprobamate and chlorphenesin carbamate, antianxiety agents such as chlordiazepoxide, diazepam and oxazepam and stimulants such as desoxyephedrine and amphetamine. Ascorbic acid and chlorobutanol may also be present. |
