Measurement system for detection of electric discharges, temperatures and currents using fluorescent fibre=optic sensors for HV machines and equipment

For detection of electrical discharges the measurement system employs a fluorescent fibre optic sensor (1) distributed through the item monitored with which, when excited by the radiation (1.1) from electric discharges (e.g., sparks, arcs) over its surface, an optical signal is created longitudinally along the sensor. This is detected by an optical analyser (2.1) and analysed and evaluated in an evaluator (3). The sensor can have both a thermal and mechanical irregularity and a further separate mechanical irregularity without impairing its efficient operation. Radiation from service and overload temperatures can also produce a further optical signal in the sensor.
