A device such as a smoke or carbon monoxide detector alarm 7 is fitted to the ceiling mount using keyhole openings, and is easily operated from floor level, without climbing onto chair or stepladder, and, for the disabled or elderly, without the need to send for assistance. The mount is mounted by using the retractable cords or wires (5, Fig 2) protruding from the mount, and securing these to the ceiling. Alternatively, the alarm is mounted on the mount using the retractable cords or wires. A pull cord 3 releasable on one side, hangs below the unit, and is reached from floor level by an extendable hooked pole (Fig. 4) facilitating access to the alarm e.g. for the changing of batteries or the safe and easy cancelling of alarms. |
