A method for improving, suppressing or preventing the signs and symptoms of diseases attributable to cholinergic hypofunctionality or dysfunctionality in the central and peripheral nervous systems. A suitable concentration of 2,2-dichlorovinyl dimethyl phosphate is administered by dosage to the affected portion of the nervous system of a patient suffering from schizophrenia, mania, depression, tardive dyskinesia, electroconvulsive therapy syndrome, other diseases of the central nervous system (except Alzheimer's) and diseases of the peripheral nervous system. The suitable concentration of 2,2-dichlorovinyl dimethyl phosphate is maintained at a level and over a period of time sufficient to provide improvement in the aforesaid signs and symptoms. |
