<p>A variable displacement swash plate type compressor (100) comprises a casing (6) having a plurality of cylinders (14) circumferentially arranged therein; a plurality of pistons (16) incorporated with the cylinders respectively; a drive shaft (13) extending in the casing; a swash plate (27A) axially movably disposed on the drive shaft (13) and inclinable relative to the same; means for causing the swash plate to make spiral turns when the drive shaft is rotated; means (17B) for making a hinged and slidable connection between the swash plate (27A) and each of the pistons (16) to make a reciprocative movement of each piston (16) when the drive shaft (13) is rotated; and a structure for achieving a smoothed axial movement of each piston (16) in the cylinder (14) while suppressing a rotational movement of the piston about an axis thereof. The structure includes a cylindrical piston rod (46) which extends from an eccentric portion of a piston head of each piston (16); and a supporting plate (48) tightly installed in the casing (6), the supporting plate (48) having a circular opening (47) through which the piston rod (46) of each piston (16) slidably passes. <IMAGE></p> |
