In an internal combustion engine having an inlet and an exhaust system, an exhaust turbocharger and a pressure accumulator it is proposed, in order to improve the transient behaviour, that a backpressure flap (12) be provided in the exhaust gas line, upstream of which a branch (13) of a connecting line (14), provided with a valve (16), preferably a non-return valve (16), is arranged leading to the pressure accumulator (15), which accumulator is connected in a known manner by way of a controllable valve (17) to the inlet manifold (2) of the inlet system and/or by way of a controllable valve (18) to the exhaust manifold (3) of the exhaust system. <IMAGE> |
