1,231,598. Making crank-shafts. MOTORENUND TURBINEN-UNION FRIEDRICHSHAFEN G.m.b.H. 28 Nov., 1968 [29 Nov., 1967], No. 56553/68. Heading B3A. [Also in Division F2] A crank-shaft is formed by welding together similar pieces 11 and 23 between end pieces 24, each similar piece comprising a hollow crank-pin 12 and crankweb-half 14, the crankweb-halves 13, 14 and 24 being formed with a facial groove to receive with axial and radial play a centring ring 28 to centre the halves for bell-seam welding at 28, the heat of welding being conducted into the web-halves and preventing scale formation on the inner surfaces. The inner surface of each half is substantially part spherical and the outer surface conical; the outer surface axis being in line with the crank-pin axis whilst the inner surface axis is inclined thereto. Oil bores 41 extend through the crank-pin wall, and removal of a plug 44 allows cleaning of the crank-shaft interior. Balance weights 29 may be added to the crescent shape attachments on some crankweb-halves.
|
