LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY ELEMENT AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING THE SAME

A reflective pixel electrode (107) made of Cr is provided on the substrate (108) and a transparent pixel electrode (102) made of ITO is provided on the substrate (101). High pre-tilt orientation films (106, 103) formed by rubbing polyimide are respectively provided on both substrates (108, 101). The direction of rubbing is so as to obtain a liquid crystal right-twist of 270 DEG . Polymer dispersed liquid crystal in which liquid crystal (105) and polymer (104) are mutually orientation dispersed is provided between both substrates (108, 101). Liquid crystal is oriented with a large pre-tilt angle relative to both substrates (108, 101). Because the liquid crystal is oriented with large pre-tilt angle, driving voltage drops, response speed of liquid crystal increases, and uneven display is eliminated. <IMAGE>
