The present invention relates to a fan blade intended for use under erosive conditions and characterized by a light weight and high tolerance to erosion even at elevated temperatures up to approx. 220 DEG C. The invention is based on fabricating the blade (2) by casting from an aluminium-matrix composite alloy material filled with reinforcing particles. In its most advantageous embodiment, a steel wear pad (1) serving to further improve the wear resistance of the blade is bonded by integral welding to the leading edge of the blade (2). |
