PURPOSE: To extend the maximum reproducing time without depending on the system structure or the memory capacity of a memory. CONSTITUTION: A host computer 1 successively reads the continuous waveform data stored in a hard disc 7 in a predetermined packet unit and writes it in the area where read is finished of the RAM 13 of a sound board 10. In the sound board 10, the continuous waveform data successively written in packet unit in the RAM 13 is read to composite musical sounds. Since the packet transferred from the host computer 1 to the sound board 10 is determined on the basis of the memory capacity of the RAM 13 of the sound system 10, the writing time t0 per unit data, and the reproducing time (1/f0 ) per unit data, the continuous waveform data extending over such a long time as exceeding the memory capacity of the RAM 13 can be reproduced. |
