PURPOSE: To execute automatic focusing on a low-luminance object, a low- contrast object, a fast moving car body, etc., even at a long distance by using object existence probability correction data. CONSTITUTION: When the switch 1 of a switch group 12 is turned on, an aperture is opened to execute a pre-exposure by an electronic shutter 2 at the highest speed. An exposure allowing an automatic focusing to operate is obtained from a signal level at this time and the aperture and the speed of the electronic shutter are adjusted to the exposure. When it is judged that the AF auxiliary light of an auxiliary light device 9 is required for automatical focusing, because of the low-luminance and -contrast of the object, etc., the AF auxiliary light is lighted to continue the automatic focusing operation. When focusing is not obtained, an AF evaluation value is multiplied by the object existence probability correction data and the automatic focusing operation is continued with the obtained value, to execute automatic focusing locking. When a switch 2 is turned on, the pre-exposure by pre-flashing is attained and a flashing quantity in a normal exposure is obtained from the luminance of the object and a background and the luminance difference. |
