PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To promote the migration and proliferation of keratinocytes in healing wounds by bringing a purified Clostridiopeptidase A collagenase obtained by fermenting Clostridium histolyticum into contact with the wounds. SOLUTION: A purified Clostridiopeptidase A collagenase (hereinafter referred to as collagenase) free from other proteinases is brought into contact with wounds. The open wounds of skin are preferably treated by bringing an exposed sub-cellular level matrix into contact with the collagenase in an amount effective in increasing the rate at which keratinocytes migrate toward the wound edges to treat the wounds. The collagenase is preferably applied in the form of an aqueous solution thereof dissolved in a phosphate buffer saline solution, etc., and preferably used at 0.5-150 ABC units/mL, i.e., 5-1,500μg/mL concentration.
