PURPOSE: To obtain a setter material high in thermal impact resistance and strength from a setter for the thermal treatment of a metal product, a ceramic product, etc. CONSTITUTION: A setter material for the thermal treatment of a metal product, a ceramic product, etc., is produced from a material whose component comprises Sialon-BN. This Sialon has a chemical formula: Si6 -zAlzOzN8 -z wherein the value of (z) is 2.0-4.0. The amount of the BN is 0.5-50wt.%. Since the thermal impact resistance and deformation resistance of the setter are better than those of conventional setters produced from alumina and zirconia, the life of the setter for the thermal treatment can be extended. |
