摘要 PURPOSE: To provide a negative electrode carbon material with high capacity and suitable as the negative active material of a nonaqueous electrolytic secondary battery, and provide the manufacturing process of the negative carbon material. CONSTITUTION: Low expansion type meso-phase carbon having a fixed carbon of 88.5% and a total expansion coefficient of 0% (in the test using a dilatometer used in the thermal expansion test of coal) is formed in a 16.5mm diameter molding body at 3 tons, and heated in an oxidizing atmosphere (in this example: the air) at 300 deg.C for one hour. After changing the oxidizing atmosphere into inert gas (nitrogen), the molding body is sintered in the inert gas atmosphere at 1000 deg.C for 3 hours to obtain a 16.5mm diameter sintered body.
