PURPOSE: To effectively use a large capacity memory on the host system side. CONSTITUTION: A host computer 10 reads the waveform data of a musical sound to be sounded one block by one block from a wave table when an empty sounding channel is present in a sound board 20, and successively transmits it to the sound board 20 while it is temporarily stored in a host cashe memory 16. In the sound board 20, the waveform data supplied from the host computer 10 is successively stored in a sub-cashe memory 24, and a musical sound data is composed by a sound source LSI 22 on the basis of the waveform data. On the other hand, when no empty channel is present in the sound board 20, the musical sound data is composited in the host computer 10. The sound board 20 mixes the musical sound data composited by itself with the musical sound data composited by the host computer 10, and then generates sounds. |
