PURPOSE: To reduce the cost by simplifying the assembling process or the procedure of work and to enhance the reliability by preventing the fluctuation and deterioration of optical coupling. CONSTITUTION: A laser diode 1 and a photodiode 15 are secured on a stem 2. An optical fiber 6 is inserted into an optical fiber supporting member 4 and bonded through an UV-curing resin while arranging the forward end of strand to be flush with the end face of optical fiber supporting member 4. The optical fiber supporting member 4 is set in a slit 47 and, while confirming the inside of the optical fiber supporting member 4 visually from the outside, the position is adjusted in the direction of optical axis until the forward end of strand approaches within a predetermined distance to the laser diode 1. Subsequently, a laser light is oscillated from the laser diode 1 and the position of the optical fiber supporting member 4 is adjusted in the direction perpendicular to the optical axis such that the optical coupling between the laser diode 1 and the optical fiber 6 is optimized. Finally, the planar part 45 of the optical fiber supporting member 4 is bonded to the upper surface of the stem 2 through an UV-curing resin. |
