PURPOSE: To provide a character processor which can automatically register an unknown word in a KANA(Japanese syllabary)-KANJI(Chinese character) dictionary unless the unknown word is registered in the KANA-KANJI dictionary. CONSTITUTION: This character processor is provided with a KANA-KANJI conversion engine 101 which sends a message 'converted character string erasure' when there is no character string to be converted and a message 'conversion determination' when a conversion determination key is pressed, a message reception part 102 which receives those messages, an unknown word estimation processing part 103 which estimates an unknown word that is not registered in the KANA-KANJI dictionary 106 in response to the reception of 'converted character string erasure', and an unknown word registration processing part 104 which registers the unknown word in the KANA-KANJI dictionary 106 in response to the reception of 'convesion determination'. The unknown word registration processing part 104 performs the unknown word registration by utilizing an input key buffer 107, an unknown word reading key buffer 108 which stores a key array having reading information on the unknown word, and an unknown word notation key buffer 109 which stores a key array having notation information on the unknown word. |
