A process for mfg. a cover (10) for filters for vehicles, partic. oil filters, includes: (a) providing a starting single-component circular slab (10) of constant thickness; (b) modifying the thickness ratio between the central portion and the peripheral portion of the single-component slab; and (c) subjecting the modified-thickness slab to forming and shaping steps that do not involve heat treatment.
