The invention relates to a process and device for producing decorative panels (2) consisting of a polystyrene foam sheet and a section of decorative foil bonded thereto. The process comprises the steps below with the appropriate components of the device: (1) cutting a block of foam into individual panel-like blanks (20, 20', ...); (2) laying the blanks on a horizontal plane (E) and aligning them; (3) laying a decorative foil web (3) coated on its underside (4) with a heat-sealing adhesive on the aligned blanks; (4) pre-bonding by heating the contact surface between the upper side of the blanks and the decorative foil web to a temperature which takes the heat-seal adhesive into an adhesive state in which the upper side of the blank and the decorative foil web are lightly adhesively secured together; (5) cutting the decorative foil at the junction between two foam panels; (6) taking the parts bonded as set out in (4) to a pressing station (35) in which, with the blank pneumatically secured, an embossed heated pressure ram presses on the decorative foil and the blank and embosses them at the same time, in which the whole of the surface of the underside of the decorative foil remains in contact with the blank converted into a foam panel; (7) ejection of the decorative panels from the pressing station. |
