The upper legs (E1) of a number of fastener elements (E) in a continuous slide fastener are cut away by descending blades (21), and the coupling heads (Eh) and attached lower legs are removed from the cores (2b) of fastener tapes (2a) by a punch (22), the tapes (2a) being clamped between the pressure members (24) of the punch (22) and a die (23).
