CATALYTIC BURNER AND BURNING METHOD

PURPOSE: To provide a catalytic burner of shortening a combustion starting time and reducing in size by suppressing the generation of the unburnt component of fuel gas at the time of starting the combustion. CONSTITUTION: The catalytic burner 1 has a fuel gas introducing passage 12 and a combustion exhaust gas exhaust passage 13, and comprises at least two or more catalytic layers in parallel with the channel of combustion gas therein. The burner 1 further comprises a switching unit 3 for so switching the channel of the gas as to sequentially feed the gas through the layers at the time of starting the combustion of the burner 1 and to feed the gas through the single catalytic layer at the time of the steady combustion.
