PURPOSE: To reduce transportation costs at the time of recovery and disposal treatment and to eliminate the loss due to a lap of materials in a shock absorbing material for packaging a precision machine such as a videotape recorder for business use by approximating the shock absorbing characteristic of the shock absorbing material prepared by folding corrugated fiberboard to that of a shock absorbing material formed from only polystyrene foam. CONSTITUTION: Shock absorbing parts 8c having an triangular end, openings 8j provided at a cut up portion of a ridge of a recess 8a, and notches 8o provided in reinforcing bars 8k are formed on a shock absorbing material 8 which is formed by folding a sheet-shaped material, which is folded to form the recess 8a for mounting a machine 7 to be packaged, to easily absorb impacts so that shock absorbing characteristic is improved. Further, a straight line-shaped contact parts 8d are provided at the upper and lower parts of the material in the middle of the recess 8a for mounting of the machine 7, whereby a shock absorbing device in which there is no lap of materials and which is not bulky when the device is recovered or abandoned can be obtained. |
