PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device capable of suppressing the deposition of a drug into a carrier during storage and delivering the drug to and/or crossing the skin. SOLUTION: This transdermal drug delivery device consisting of a carrier containing a drug in a dissolved state is produced by the following processes: (i) a non-aqueous carrier (e.g. an acrylate pressure-sensitive adhesive) containing a drug (e.g. estradiol) which forms a solid hydrate when exposed to water vapor in a dissolved state is supplied; (ii) a desiccant package inert to the carrier, permeable to water vapor and defining a desiccant compartment containing a desiccant (e.g. zeolite molecular sieve) is supplied; and (iii) the carrier and the desiccant package are placed in a sealed product package which is impermeable to water vapor. The use of the desiccant reduces or suppresses the deposition (e.g. crystallization) in the transdermal drug delivery device containing a drug which forms a hydrate when exposed to water.
