Identification system compares ID card with actual body characteristic

The identification card carries a printed encapsulated image of a body characteristic, e.g. a fingerprint. The user inserts the card into a reader. The reader detects data, e.g. magnetic data as well as scanning the fingerprint image. The user also inserts the relevant finger into another scanning device. If the two images are identical the user is identified as the authorised holder of the card and access to an area or facility is allowed.
