<p>PURPOSE: To enhance the feeling of striking a golf ball, controllability, etc., by forming a cover for the golf ball with a mixture of a specific styrene- saturated carboxylic acid copolymer having a specified hardness and a specific ionomer resin or ionomer resin mixture at a specified mixing ratio. CONSTITUTION: A cover 2 of a golf ball is formed out of a mixture compound of a resin A and resin B in a proportion by weight between 60:40 and 90:10. The resin A is an ionomer resin formed through neutralization with metal ion of at least part of the carboxyl radical of a copolymer of ethylene andα,β-unsaturated carboxylic acid or terpolymer of ethylene andα,β-unsaturated carboxylic acid andα,β-unsaturated carboxylic acid ester. The resin B is a copolymer of styrene-unsaturated bi-acid radical carboxylic acid or one of the half-ester copolymer, diester copolymer, styrene-acrylic acid copolymer, and styrene-methallylic acid copolymer, and has a Shore D hardness of 20-40 and an elastic modulus of bending between 10-50MPa.</p> |
