PURPOSE: To prevent dust of fine particles from being produced, and to produce asphalt roofing material with high quality, by a method wherein granulated mineral materials coated with resin in a specified process using a specified material, are diffused and embedded in the surface layer of asphalt base material with flexibility. CONSTITUTION: Liquid coating material comprising water-soluble acrylic resin composed of water of 90∼10wt.% and acrylic resin of 10∼90wt.% as the main constituent is produced. The liquid coating material of 0.1 to 10wt.% is applied and kneaded based on granulated mineral materials 4, and they are dried by hot air of 100 to 180 deg.C. After that, they are allowed to cool in normal temperature and a coat 7 is formed on each surface of the mineral materials 4, following which the mineral materials 4 coated are diffused and are almost embedded in the surface layer of asphalt base material 2 with flexibility. The coating material is preferably composed of water of 70∼30wt.% and acrylic resin of 30∼70wt.% and more preferably it is 50wt.% for each. In this way, the dust adhering to the surface of each of the granulated mineral materials 4 can be prevented from being produced.
