PURPOSE: To prevent the discharge of the SOx contained in a hot purge gas into the atmosphere by joining the hot purge gas discharged from a desorption tower to a waste gas to be desulfurized before denitrification. CONSTITUTION: The hot blast generated in a hot blast stove 17 is introduced into a desorption tower 13 through a hot blast circulating line 18, then discharged from the tower 13 and returned to the stove 14 through a hot blast circulating line 16. At this time, the other part of the hot blast is joined to the waste gas desulfurized and not denitrificated in the waste gas line 15 (pont B) of the denitrification tower and desufurization tower 11 through a hot purge gas line 20 and introduced into the denitrification tower 12. The waste gas and hot purge gas are brought into contact with the active carbon moving in the tower 12 from its top to the bottom, hence the NOx in the waste gas are reduced by NH3 to N2 , and the SOx in the hot purge gas are adsorbed on active carbon. The gas treated in the denitrification tower 12 is discharged into the atmosphere from a stack 19.
