PURPOSE: To obtain a filter for cigarette capable of filtering a smoked amount on smoking with reduction of a used amount of a filter material without clogging by specifying an air-flow resistance, a rate of filtration, a porosity and a thickness of the filter material respectively. CONSTITUTION: This filter for cigarette consists of a hollow mouthpiece to be connected to the cigarette 2, a plate filter material 8 for filtering inhaled smoke from the cigarette and arranged at the mouthpiece and a space divided by the filter material 8 in the mouthpiece. In the filter material 8, each fiber is transversely arranged against a stream direction of the inhaled smoke. The filter material is made to have <=5mm thickness to specify to have 10-90mm H2 O air-flow resistance, 5-70% filtration rate of fine particles included in the inhaled smoke, <=20μm fiber diameter and 80-95% porosity in the filter material 8.
