METHOD FOR UTILIZATION OF ATMOSPHERE IN TOWER-TYPE FURNACE

FIELD: metallurgy and mechanical engineering; applicable in annealing of electrical steels. SUBSTANCE: method for utilization of atmosphere in tower-type furnaces includes supply of fresh protective atmosphere to heating chambers and holding, withdrawal of used atmosphere and selection of a part of used atmosphere for cleaning, cooling and compression. The part of used atmosphere is selected from gas bleeder of holding chamber and it is returned to heating chamber in the definite amount. Supply of fresh protective atmosphere to heating chamber is discontinued. Total consumption of protective atmosphere is reduced in tower-type furnace by 10-12%. In so doing, potential of used atmosphere fed to heating chamber provides for decarbonization of transformer steel down to preset values by the technology and equalling $$$-0.003-0.004 mas.% upon completion of annealing process (at furnace outlet). EFFECT: higher efficiency.
