FIELD: cast iron industry. SUBSTANCE: method is intended to be used for controlling smelt mode structure of modified cast iron and is based on putting one or more low-carbon iron insertions into sampler. Iron insertion(s) has(ve) such dimensions as not to smelt completely when sampler is filled with the smelt which is allowed to solidify. Temperature of the smelt is registered on its solidification. When proposed method is employed, well outlined absolute temperature is obtained when the latter intersects the line of liquid of gamma-phase. Instead of absolute temperature, temperature difference related to euthenic temperature of the structure of similar-type modified cast iron may be registered. Carbon equivalent is determined from phase diagram applicable to given structure of modified cast iron. Carbon equivalent is regulated by addition of carbon and/or silicon or low-carbon cast iron. EFFECT: facilitated controlling cast iron smelt structure. |
