PURPOSE: To hydrogenate the subject oil to an oil having high reactivity and high grade with high conversion and high yield by bringing a hydrogenated oil obtained by bringing a raw oil for catalytic cracking into contact with hydrogen and removing metal residue, into contact with hydrogen at a temperature lower than the former treatment and removing polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon residue, etc. CONSTITUTION: A raw oil for catalytic cracking is brought into contact with hydrogen (A1 ) in the presence of a catalyst (A2 ) for hydrogenation treatment [e.g. a catalyst carrying a nickel-(cobalt)-molybdenum component on a flame- resistant inorganic oxide carrier and containing pore having diameters of 30-100Åand volume of >=60% of whole pore volume] at <=450 deg.C reaction temperature under >=2MPa reaction pressure to obtain a hydrogenated oil removed of metal residue, Conradson carbon residue, a sulfur compound and a nitrogen compound, and further, the resultant oil is brought into contact with A1 at a temperature lower than the former reaction temperature and >=280 deg.C in the presence of A2 to remove polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and polar materials.
