FIELD: leather industry. SUBSTANCE: method for processing hides of high-fat fishes such as carp into leather involves liming followed by two-stage decalcification (the first stage in ammonium sulfate solution for 40-60 min at 15-25 C, the second stage for 1-2 h at 30 C with application of some softening agent). The hides are tanned in a mixture of plant and synthetic tanning agents with the use of aluminum compounds, dyed with dyes for leather and textile dyes, and fat-liquored with a fat mixture containing some water repellent.
