TREATMENT OF LOWER LEAF OF LEAF VEGETABLE AND APPARATUS THEREFOR

PURPOSE: To provide a method for treating the lower leaf of a leaf vegetable capable of automating the treatment of the lower leaf of leaf vegetable and largely distributing to automation of harvest of the main leaf and provide an apparatus for treating the lower leaf. CONSTITUTION: A culture bar 31 in which a leaf vegetable C is cultured is set to a setting position B and a main leaf E of leaf vegetable arranged at the setting position B is held by a harvesting chuck 88 and either one of the culture bar 31 or the harvesting chuck 88 is raised or lowered in the direction in which either one of the bar 31 becomes more distant from the other to separate main leaf E from the lower leaf F and the root D of the leaf vegetable C is held by a root chuck 75 and the root D is cut and separated together with the lower leaf F from the main leaf in the neighborhood of upper face of the culture bar 31 and either one of the root chuck 75 holding the root D or the culture bar 31 is raised or lowered in the direction in which either one of the chuck 75 or the culture bar 31 becomes more distant from the other to pull out the root having the lower leaf from the culture bar 31 and the root chuck 75 is opened and holding of the root D is released and the root D is dropped to automatically perform the treatment of the lower leaf E.
