PURPOSE: To obtain constant developed and erased color densities even when repeated color development/erasure is performed, in a reversible thermal recording medium having a thermal recording layer capable of forming a developed/ erased color state, by changing printing energy corresponding to developed and erased color densities when color development/erasure is repeated. CONSTITUTION: A reversible thermal recording material is obtained by providing a thermal recording layer containing an electron donating color forming compd., an electron acceptive compd. and a resin binder as main components and capable of forming developed and erased color states by the difference of heating temp. on a support. At a time of the recording of this recording medium, the color density of an erased color part is monitored by an erased color part density sensor before color forming heating and the detected color density data is inputted to a controller 7 through a monitor signal line 15. Corresponding to this, the signal controlling the level of the heating current supply quantity of a thermal head 5 is outputted to the power supply circuit of the thermal head through a control signal line 16 and the supply quantity of power is increased and decreased on the basis of the control signal. |
