<p>PURPOSE: To provide a four wheel drive device which can secure maneuvering stability by preventing a sudden change in a steering characteristic even if failure is caused in a driving mode detecting switch system at four-wheel drive traveling time. CONSTITUTION: A four-wheel drive device is provided with a clutch 9 to distribute driving force from an engine 3 to front and rear wheels l and 2 and a controller 45 which controls fastening force of the clutch 9 on the basis of a speed difference between the front and rear wheels 1 and 2 and switches four-wheel drive and two-wheel drive to/from each other by intermitting its clutch 9, and an operation processing part 47 to reduce the fastening force of the clutch 9 in order in prescribed time at switching time to two-wheel drive from four-wheel drive is arranged in its controller 45.</p> |
