<p>PURPOSE: To provide a position detecting device by which N positioning of a neutral start switch by an operator can be facilitated and N positioning control after the neutral start switch is installed can also be properly performed, and a position detecting method using it. CONSTITUTION: A rotor 2 having a slit is fixed to a manual shaft 1, and this rotor 2 having a slit rotates by a limited angle with the manual shaft 1 to be actuated by a shift lever as the center. An (a) row slit 3, (b) row slits 4 (41 and 42 ), (c) row slits 5 (51 and 52 ), a (d) row slit group 6 and an (e) row slit group 7 are respectively arranged in concentrically circular-shaped prescribed positions with the manual shaft 1 as the center in order close to the manual shaft 1. An incremental pulse is outputted according to rotation of its (d) row slit group 6 and (e) row slit group 7, and N positional dislocation is detected on the basis of its pulse number, and it can be corrected in a normal N position.</p> |
