PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved system and method for collision warning based on dynamic deceleration performance by providing a control circuit to indicate possibility of collision based on a position numerical value as a function of a predicted road load value predicted for a predicted future collision time. SOLUTION: An inter-vehicle distance between a vehicle and at least one forward vehicle is determined by a block 100. A block 102 determines a current road load of the vehicle. The road load expresses difference to a necessary driving force for maintaining a road speed of the current vehicle. Since the road load changes between a time for the forward vehicle gets closer to a range of a collision warning device and a time having possibility of collision, a block 104 predicts the road load. A block 106 determines deceleration performance of the vehicle based on the predicted road load, and a block 108 uses the whole deceleration performance to determine possibility of collision using a specified expression based on the deceleration performance. When collision is indicated by the specified expression, a block 110 alarms by a buzzer or the like.
