PURPOSE: To improve the volume efficiency of an ink-jet print cartridge and to overcome the leakage of ink caused by the volume expansion of internal gas. CONSTITUTION: This cartridge has a main tank 1 for storing ink 11 directly, a back pressure generation part 5 which is formed from a space which does not generate capillarity force in a part upper than the level of the ink 11 in the main tank 1, a subtank 2 for storing the ink 11 which is contained in a porous body 6, and an ink overflow preventive chamber 3--a space which is equipped with an external air communicating hole 7 and is not used for the storage of the ink 11. An external air introduction pipe 9 and an external air introduction pipe 10 in which pipes with different lengths are filled with a porous material having a property which passes gas but does not pass liquid are arranged between the main tank 1 and the chamber 3, an ink supply route 8 made of a pipe which is thin enough to generate cappillarity force in the lower part of the main tank 1 and the back pressure generation part 5 of the subtank 2 is arranged, and the ink 11 is supplied from the porous body 6 of the subtank 2 to a print head 4. |
