to display the mode input stand-by state by detecting whether the mode input key is pushed when a multi-functional telephone is in ARS stand-by state; to judge to which mode the mode inputted by the dial button corresponds; to display the previous value stored in a memory at each corresponding mode; to compare the value inputted from the corresponding mode with the previous value displayed; to return to the third step if the inputted values are equal to the previous value, and otherwise to display the values inputted from the corresponding mode; and to store the values inputted from the corresponding mode in the memory by sensing the completion of the mode input if the mode input key is pushed again.
