The energy absorbing connector (1) for an aircraft seat back comprises an external sleeve (3) ended on one side by fasteners (5) able to be attached to a part of the structure. An internal sleeve (4) is ended at the second opposite end by a rod (6) able to be rigidly attached to the structure. The two sleeves slide axially in each other in the case where the connector receives a force exceeding a certain threshold. The two sleeves have opposite facing transverse holes (11,12). A first pin (10), which is fusible at a release threshold, is mounted transversely in the holes and held in position by circlips (13). A second pin (15) is mounted transversely to the two sleeves so as to pass through and project from a side of the internal sleeve into a housing in the internal face (8) of the external sleeve. During axial sliding this pin deforms the external sleeve and absorbs energy and also ensures locking at the end of its travel by engaging an internal projection (18) in the external sleeve. |
