The method involves forming, inside a furnace, multiple layers defining a lower layer for material to be treated (A), an upper layer (D) of melted materials and one or more layers (B,C) formed by materials which are partially or totally fused. Material is fed into the lower layer to cause the layers to ascend inside the furnace for removal of the upper layers by overflowing. The heating and feed to the lower layer is adjusted so that the fused materials of the upper layer have, on their free surface, a viscosity sufficient to allow flow of the products towards the removal zone.
