The under sea obstacles (1) are protected by unrolling a flexible support net (2) onto and on either side of the space until it touches the bottom (8) of the sea (7). The ends of the bands along the net perimeter (4) which are in contact with the sea bed are fixed. A small thickness of flexible filler (6) is placed on all the net surface before unrolling it to cover the space. After unrolling and fixing the nets to the sea bed, filler is placed from a surface support (5) through a conduit (10) whose lower end (15) is held at the level of the filler already placed. The filler is placed in concentric layers backing up towards the centre of the net.
