The knife block (15) has a rotating transverse dividing knife (7) which is driven by the movement of the block. The rotating knife is arranged on a knife shaft (16) mounted in the knife block. A toothed rod (17) is fitted along the cylinder (14) of the piston-cylinder unit (6). The knife shaft is directly or indirectly driven via a pinion (18) in the knife block which meshes with the toothed rod.
