The device has a press bar (10), cutter blade (12), two-part cutter table (14,16), and a paper guide (18). A pusher face (20) of the guide facing the front table (16), encloses an angle of more than 90 deg with the table surface. During the complete table movement, the guide maintains a distance of at least 1mm to the rear edge (32) of the front table. The guide is movable at right angles to the front table surface only. The angle between guide face and table surface is between 91 deg and 110 deg , pref. 95 deg . Front and rear edges of the front table are bevelled.
