A tilting central armrest (2) for a seat (S) in a vehicle, comprises a frame (4) and a rotating pin (10) connected to the seat construction. The seat has means (14,20,12) to adjust and store the desired angular setting of the armrest, which allows the armrest to be returned to the set and stored position and further rotation of the armrest about the pin. The means to position and store the armrest setting comprises a telescopic device (14) with springs connected to the frame, with a free end (20) which operates a stop (12) connected to a bush (9). The bush rotates about the armrest pin and is connected to the seat structure.
